WSJ: An Antisemitism Task Force Whistleblower Refutes Herself
A whistleblower last week accused the Trump administration’s antisemitism task force of rigging its civil-rights enforcement. But the disclosure, which Haley Van Erem filed with Congress, refutes itself repeatedly. Lawyers for Ms. Van Erem—a former Justice Department attorney who was temporarily reassigned in 2025 to the Department of Health and Human Services for Title VI investigations of Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Harvard—allege in the report that “the outcomes of the investigations were predetermined, without regard to the evidence.” The report spends its 28 pages documenting instances in which the task force regarded, not disregarded, evidence.
With Columbia, Ms. Van Erem objected that draft findings implicated protected speech. In her own telling, the HHS general counsel’s office then “provided extensive comments identifying legal issues,” and “some of the findings . . . about protected speech were removed.”...
