NJAC Seeks Emergency Injunction to Halt Northampton's Unlawful Anti-Israel Divestment Resolution

Northampton, MA — The National Jewish Advocacy Center (NJAC) and the Gevura Fund, together with co-counsel Libby Hoopes Brooks & Mulvey, P.C., have filed a motion for a temporary restraining order in Massachusetts Superior Court seeking to immediately halt enforcement of the City of Northampton’s anti-Israel divestment resolution before it causes irreversible harm to the public.
The motion follows a lawsuit NJAC filed in March on behalf of Northampton taxpayers challenging the City Council's resolution directing the City Treasurer and City Retirement Board to divest from companies deemed to have "substantial, ongoing, and intentional complicity" in alleged human rights violations in Israel, prohibiting investment in Israel Bonds, and requiring full divestment within two years...
