Press Release: NJAC Pursues Four Simultaneous Tracks Seeking Answers on Reported Social-Media Bot Network Traced to New York City Hall

Ethics complaint, investigative referral, public-records demand, and audit request ask four separate bodies to determine whether public resources were used for political amplification

NEW YORK, NY — The National Jewish Advocacy Center ("NJAC") announced today that it is pursuing, through four separate avenues, the question of whether City resources were used to operate or coordinate the network of automated or inauthentic social-media accounts amplifying Mayor Zohran Mamdani as described in recent public reporting. NJAC has filed a complaint with the New York City Conflicts of Interest Board, submitted a referral to the New York City Department of Investigation, served a Freedom of Information Law request on three City entities, and asked the New York City Comptroller to audit City spending on social media and related services.

The four submissions follow an August 6, 2026 report in The Jerusalem Post by Mathilda Heller. According to that report, the World Zionist Organization's Department for Combating Antisemitism was presented with data and findings collected by cyber analysts identifying dozens, and possibly hundreds, of suspected bot accounts on the platform X amplifying content from Mayor Mamdani and affiliated City accounts. The Post independently consulted the analysts involved, who said they were "100% sure" the IP addresses could be traced to City Hall. Accounts identified in the report include @SnoopyLima13, recorded at 955 tweets per day with a 100% repeated-sharing rate, and @CatCat2005689, recorded at 864 tweets per day, also at a 100% repeated-sharing rate.
