An Antisemitism Course Correction for Higher Ed

The university classroom is where the West decides what it believes, and for two decades, on the subject of the Jews, it has often been deciding wrong, largely uncontested. We lost the classroom quietly, course by course. This week, eleven professors in Touro University’s new Teaching Fellowship to Combat Campus Antisemitism begin the work of taking it back.
The campus eruptions after October 7 were not spontaneous. Somebody assigned the readings, framed the questions and graded the papers for years. Many of the students in those tents could not have told you which river or which sea. They were there because someone they trusted had given them a story simple enough to chant and broad enough to explain the world. That person was often a professor. Activists understood long ago that the classroom is one of the most powerful rooms in the West, and they treated it accordingly. The repair must begin there too.
